I always thought that if I didn't have Whippets, I would have Staffies. It's unfortunate that they are a misunderstood breed due to negative press, but these gentle creatures have actually been nicknamed 'nanny' dogs due to their special affinity with people, particularly children.
This was a bit of a difficult shoot - not because of the gorgeous dogs, but because of the fact that we had booked during the eclipse without realising! Although it didn't go completely dark, it was pretty darn close so capturing these little speedy little monkeys was tough.
This shoot did reinforce how much I love the breed though - they were super friendly and a joy to watch while they were playing. I know so many people who aren't used to Whippets and their 'tooth fencing' play, I can't imagine what they would think when they see Staffies doing the same thing. Despite how they look, they aren't related. Their rehabilitation wasn't an easy one, but I am in awe of their 'Mum' for sticking with it, doing the research, taking advice and seeing it through to the end - which was two gorgeous, loving dogs.
