This shoot was a gift from grown up kids to their Mum, they were super excited as they knew she loved photography & loved her hounds more.
I always call before a shoot to chat about the day, what to expect and to find out a little more about the dogs and their personalities, after a bit of telephone tennis (I live in the sticks and the mobile reception is unpredictable at the best of times), we finally managed to chat.
I felt there was a little trepidation around the shoot as the lovely owner had recently adopted a Galgo (Spanish hunting dog), and she didn't feel like the shoot could really take place anywhere apart from somewhere secure. This is completely understandable, I have photographed many dogs who needed to be in a secure area. After some reassurance that we would be able to do the shoot in her very lovely garden, we set a date.
I have an affinity with all dogs, sighthounds hold a special place in my heart for obvious reason and I fell head over heels with this pair. Miranda was still becoming accustomed to a luxury lifestyle and had her sights firmly set on any squirrel activity, isn't she stunning though?
And then there's Lucky. Oh my. It's hard to keep focused on getting an action shot while you are laughing so much. He does an adorable excited dance as soon as the roast chicken comes out, and then when he receives said treat, proceeds to zoom around the garden with glee. Because lets face it, roast chicken is the best thing ever!
It was a great shoot, and we ended up chatting for a while over a coffee and I grabbed a few shots of the hounds inside as well.
It was amazing to see the progress of Miranda when I dropped of the album that was ordered, I don't know if she remembered me from the shoot, but she certainly enjoyed lots of cuddles.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to set up a shoot.
