Great Winter Dog Coats for Active Hounds

Great North Winter Coats

I can't remember when Scout got his first Chilly Dogs coat, but I think that it must be over four years ago now. What I liked about the design was the fact that the stomach area is covered; a must for dogs with furless bare bellies like whippets! I also love the fact that they are generally good for active hounds who like to do zoomies (although one of my friends hounds somehow managed to get his leg stuck underneath him and she thought for a second that his leg had dropped off! Not sure how he managed that bless him).

Built for extreme cold

These coats are actually made for the Canadian winter; I have actually been to Canada in January, and believe me, it's BITTER! The coat is supposed to be waterproof, I haven't taken my hounds out in a torrential downpour, however, I can confirm that they are definately shower proof. We have been out plenty of times in heavy drizzle and the inside has always been dry. Chilly Dogs do have a raincoat too which I'm seriously considering investing in for milder weather.

After four years, Scout's is pretty immaculate. Boo's is pretty scuffed up but that's only because she is fearless about going through thick bushes, which actually means the coat is protecting her too!

These coats are built to last & last they certainly do!
